Zero point survey Paediatric resuscitations can cause significant anxiety for health care professionals and this can impact team organisation and performance. When preparing for a paediatric resuscitation you may prepare drugs and equipment, but do you take the time to prepare yourself, your team or your environment? This paper by Cliff Reid et al, presents the concept of the zero point survey. This occurs prior to the primary survey (usually prior to the patient arrival) and addresses these non-technical factors that we all know can impact on the efficiency of the resuscitation. I would highly recommend a read and to consider trying this approach prior to your next resuscitation. Dr Danielle Scarfe
